The Metal Rabbit will be rockin’ off-stage soon. Wait, you must be wondering that he should’ve been off-stage with the fireworks display that was the grand finale on January 23 morning, the day the Chinese community around the world welcomed the New Year. That is sort of correct – if you’re looking at the Chinese Lunar Calendar. But the Chinese also have another calendar, which they refer to as well: the Solar Calendar. In terms of festivals, they tend to follow the Lunar Calendar. As the Chinese New Year festivity is about celebrating the coming Spring, according to the Solar Calendar (used by farmers to determine the change of seasons, and which dates are more fixed than the moody Lunar Calendar), Spring comes every February 4. Therefore, no matter when we celebrate Chinese New Year, we only officially enter the New Year on February 4.
Long explanation, I know.
In short, despite all the festivity for the New Year, the Metal Rabbit is still here enjoying every bit of its time until February 4. We may have to call security on February 3 to haul its ass out on time if the Metal Rabbit is still rockin’ on like this.
But I think the Water Dragon would be chill about it. He doesn’t sweat the small stuff. Doesn’t even mind if the Metal Rabbit didn’t quite stumble out on time on the morning of February 4. He be cool about it. And likely flash you a Peace sign too. The most important thing on the Water Dragon’s mind that morning is to catch the biggest wave of the New Year and deftly maneuver through the watery tunnel as the new dawn rises from the horizon.
The Water Dragon has been waiting for this year to come for the longest time. He’s anxious. Sure, he has quite an unpredictable personality but he likes to see it as flexible. So you better be ready to slather on your SPF-75, grab a board and join him to surf the incoming waves. There will be big waves and small ones, but whatever waves that comes your way, you need to go with the flow in order to float along with the Big D. You gotta be prepared to maneuver through the changes – and seriously, there will be Changes this year.
Don’t diss the Big D just because he’s a surfer. He doesn’t say “awesome” a lot even though he thinks he truly is awesome. He has a brain too. He is deep if he wants to be. This year, he wants to maximize his brain power further and he wants you to do the same too. Learn new skills. It’s a good year to do so. He believes in education and knowledge and growth. He wants you to develop yourself, arm yourself with the right skills to reach your goals in life. Don’t think that you know everything now. Be humble. There’s always space for personal growth. And we can never stop learning and evolving in life.
The Big D here is observant – and you need to be as well if you want to remain afloat. Lookout for any shift of the wind, or how the water current flows. Be aware for any signs of trouble (sharks or jellyfish lurking below?). Or if there will be good timing to catch a good wave. The Water Dragon here wants to see your skills. He may test you, when you least expected. But then again, the lesson learnt may just be what you need to improve. That’s ’cause, some people learn better the hard way.
The Water Dragon has been through some pretty tough waves before and scars to prove it. This is a good time to find acceptance, heal and recover from all that – whether mentally or physically. So maybe you want to join him in a moment of meditation. Find inner peace, especially when there may be external influences to disrupt the peace. Yep, the Water Dragon is aware that there will be some backstabbing coming from the competition. What can you do? There will always be some competition somewhere waiting to flip you over, right? The Water Dragon will be chill about it and handle things cool as a seacucumber. Choppy waves will pass. Always.
As “Changes” is the main theme for the year, the Water Dragon is looking to try something different – take the road not taken as that dude, Robert Frost, had once wrote. Maybe this beach doesn’t have the waves he’s looking for, or he wants more challenging waves – whichever – something new and different is a nice change. Hell, he may even make time to write his memoir too and share his knowledge with others. Why not? Sharing is also a part of learning.
Surf’s up, everyone!
Disclaimer: This is a slightly cryptic but general forecast on the Year of the Water Dragon based on info I gather from here and there. It may not be 100% accurate – just a rough idea. Plus, this is merely a fun writeup. But if you’re really looking for the annual forecast for 2012 or Water Dragon year, I suggest you Google up the professionals for that. Thanks.
